The Garden Club holds two major fundraising events each year: The Holiday Market and Garden Walk. These events help us maintain our historic property and fund educational meetings and events. Both fundraising events include a Garden Market with 40+ vendors, mainly local small businesses and craftsmen.
The Garden Club of the Upper Keys is always on the lookout for properties to feature for our Next Garden Walk. We strive to include a diverse range of garden spaces from small to large, with interesting features. If you know of a special garden that might be featured next year, or if you would like to become one of our vendors, please send a message to: gardenclubupperkeys@gmail.com. We’d love to hear from you!
Our annual Garden Walk, typically held the last Saturday in February, was initiated in 1980. Garden Walk ticket holders are able to take private garden tours of four or five unique properties that showcase gardening and landscaping in the tropical Florida Keys. In addition to visiting the private gardens, the fundraising event also includes a Garden Market at the Francis Tracy Garden Center with approximately 40 vendors selling handcrafted items, artwork, plants, and a variety of food items. As a result, the fundraising event provides economic support to our vendors who sell their unique and often one-of-a-kind items. Inside the clubhouse, we host an art show courtesy of the Art Guild of the Purple Isles.
The activities at the garden center run from 9 AM to 4 PM, while the private tour gardens go from 10 AM to 4 PM.
The Garden Club initiated the fall Plant Ramble (now the Holiday Market) in the late 1980s. The event is generally held the first Saturday in December, enabling our visitors to find unique gifts for the holiday season. The Garden Club typically sells a variety of “gifts from the garden,” as well as raffle tickets and beverages in our clubhouse. Gifts from the garden typically include leaf-printed tea towels, jellies and jams made from tropical fruits, gardening supplies, plants, and other handcrafted items. The fundraising event also includes a Garden Market at the Francis Tracy Garden Center with approximately 40 vendors selling handcrafted items, artwork, plants, and a variety of food items.
